Dogs are considered the best friends of humans, and there is no doubt about that. They provide us with companionship, loyalty, and unconditional love. But like humans, dogs also need good food to stay fit and healthy. There are many different brands and types of dog foods available in the market these days, but it can be confusing to decide which one is best for your canine friend. This articles addresses things to consider when making your choices of dog foods.
I did some research to find the top six dog foods on the market which I will discuss in a later article. Keep in mind that every dog is different, so your mileage may vary. Make sure you consult your veterinarian before making any changes to your dog’s diet! And in making your choices of dog foods.

How Can You Choose A Dog’s Food?
The best diet for a dog is one that is low in fat and high in fibre. Dogs also need plenty of freshwaters to drink each day. In addition, dogs should have a balanced diet that includes protein, carbohydrates, vitamins, and minerals.
Here are some factors that you need to consider while choosing your dog’s food;
What Is In The Food
If you’re like most pet owners, you probably think that the only thing in your dog’s food is kibble. But what you may not know is that there are a lot of other ingredients in those bags and cans of food. Some of them are pretty weird, and some of them might even make you question whether or not you should be feeding them to your furry friend. So what exactly is in dog food? You should have a look first. Whatever your choices of dog foods are. Make sure you know what’s in it.
Diet Vs. Genetics
It’s not always strictly diet that dictates what your dog looks like or how it behaves inside or inside. Obsessive eating habits may have roots in genetics, where undiagnosed allergies may cause itchiness, resulting in excessive licking-and-eating behaviors.
Nutrients To Meet Dietary Requirements
Be aware that some nutrients are manmade while others are naturally occurring, so achieving optimum nutrition can be tricky regardless of which brand you choose.
There are a lot of choices when it comes to what dog food to feed your pet. However, not all foods are safe for dogs. Some human foods can be harmful or even deadly for dogs. Although I would not recommend it, many human foods are also safe for dogs. Here are five of my top choices:

Don’t wait – prioritize your pet’s health now.
1. Ground Beef Or Turkey
These meats are a good source of protein for dogs. Try to choose a leaner cut of meat when possible. This will not only help your dog stay healthy, but it will also make the food easier for you to prepare.
2. Peanut Butter
While you want to make sure this doesn’t contain xylitol, peanut butter makes a great treat for dogs, and they usually love the taste! It is also high in protein and good fats.
3. Baby Food
Dogs love baby food! Look for the kind that is 100% natural with no added sugars or other ingredients. Many dogs will love to try different kinds of baby food, but make sure you choose one without onion powder because this can cause an upset stomach (or worse). Be sure to buy the kind made for babies, not toddlers.
4. Dog Biscuits or Treats
Dog treats are a good way of rewarding your dog but should still be given sparingly. Also, make sure the ingredients are safe for dogs (no onions or garlic, please)

5. Products Derived From Milk
In modest amounts, dairy products such as milk, cheese, and plain yogurt are healthy for dogs to consume.
Dairy consumption in excess might create stomach issues. This is because your dog’s lactase levels are low, lactase is a digestive enzyme that breaks down the carbohydrates in milk. Lactose-intolerant dogs should avoid dairy products. Lactose intolerance manifests itself as diarrhea or vomiting after consuming dairy products.

6. Fish
Salmon, shrimp, and tuna are all healthy to consume and high in protein for dogs. Omega-3 fatty acids found in salmon and tuna can assist a dog’s immune response, coat, and skin to stay healthy.
Shrimp also contains B vitamins, improving a dog’s digestive tract and blood circulation. Undercooked fish can contain hazardous parasites, so it’s crucial to prepare them before giving them to your dog.
The Most Dangerous Foods For Our Pets
Here is a list of toxic foods you should avoid giving to your dogs; Regardless of what your choices of dog foods are. All dog foods are not created equal.
Chocolate
Chocolate contains theobromine, a compound that is toxic to dogs. The toxicity levels vary depending on the type of chocolate, but even a small amount can be dangerous for your pet. The symptoms of chocolate poisoning include vomiting, diarrhoea, and seizures.
Grapes and raisins
Grapes and raisins are another food that is toxic to dogs. These fruits can cause liver damage and even death in some cases. It is best to avoid feeding grapes or raisins to your dog altogether.
Onions And Garlic
Onions and garlic are both allium family members, which is toxic to dogs. Ingesting even small amounts can lead to anemia, which is fatal if not properly treated.
Caffeinated Foods And Drinks
Coffee, tea, cola, and energy drinks can all be dangerous to dogs. The caffeine in these beverages has a stimulating effect on the central nervous system of dogs. It leads to increased heart rate, restlessness, and tremors. Caffeine also acts as a diuretic that dehydrates your pet’s body, increasing the risk of heart problems or seizures.
Xylitol
Xylitol is a sweetener typically found in sugar-free products such as chewable vitamins, candy, baked goods, and toothpaste. It does not typically cause any stomach upset when consumed by humans but can give dogs extremely low blood sugar levels if they eat enough of it. This sweetener can also cause liver failure in dogs.
Raw meat
Raw meat can contain harmful bacteria and parasites that make your dog sick. These bacteria include salmonella and E. coli, which can be deadly to dogs. It is best to avoid feeding your dog raw meat altogether. By knowing which foods to avoid, you can help keep your dog safe and healthy. Keep these dangerous items out of reach.
No matter what your dog’s problem behavior is…
Be it jumping, peeing inappropriately
, aggression, pulling on the leash…or whatever…
There is ONE SOLUTION that can help STOP this problem now
Final Thoughts
Dog owners now have more choices than ever when buying food for their pets. And with the increasing popularity of raw diets, even more options are becoming available. However, it’s still important to know which foods are safe for dogs, and which ones should be avoided. It’s always a good idea to read the labels on your dog’s food. This sets your mind at ease and protects your pet from things that could be harmful. Just because a dog food is popular, does not mean it’s good for your pet.
So, whether you choose to feed your dog a commercial diet or make your own, always make sure that the ingredients are safe for dogs. And if you think your dog has eaten something he or she shouldn’t have, contact your veterinarian right away.
